For over forty years, Scala has sought to meet the changing publishing needs of worldwide museums, galleries, heritage sites, cathedrals, libraries and their visitors. With offices in London, New York and Paris, we have worked with the most prestigious institutions in the world to produce high-quality but reasonably priced guide books, collection highlights, exhibition catalogues, books on entire collections or books on specific aspects of a collection. Our clients include The Prado; The Louvre; The Uffizi; The National Gallery, London; The National Gallery of Art, Washington; The Smithsonian Institution; The Frick Collection; The British Library; The National Portrait Gallery, London; the Wallace Collection; the cathedrals of Canterbury, Winchester, Exeter and St Edmundsbury; Westminster Abbey; Hagia Sophia; Jerónimos Abbey, Lisbon; the Roman Baths of Bath – and many, many more sites throughout the UK, Europe and the United States. We offer all aspects of the publishing process, working closely with each institution to tailor our services to individual needs, which includes editorial, design, translation, typesetting, printing and the production of beautiful books for our clients to sell on-site and for us to market and distribute internationally through the booktrade.

Scala’s list is distributed worldwide (excluding Australia and New Zealand) by Antique Collectors’ Club (ACC). We have agents throughout Europe, the Middle East and Far East, and Africa and a distributor in Australia.  Our list is sold alongside that of Antique Collector’s Club, The National Portrait Gallery, The National Gallery of Scotland, Frances Lincoln, The Royal Collection, Images, 5 Continents and many more.  This means our reps get seen by the key buyers in the art world and we can also pool resources for targeted mail order and special sale campaigns. We have an in-house publicity department to amass as much publicity as possible for the book and for your museum.

We are the only publisher committed solely to museums, galleries, heritage sites, cathedrals and libraries, and our list is growing constantly, with more and more visitor attractions choosing the combination of great quality and fair pricing with which Scala’s publications have become synonymous.
